Todd & I are getting married!!
I've been told that at his point (14.5 years into our relationship) that this is hardly news, but I beg to differ. I think it is newsy and exciting! Some say "it's about time", but I say this is the right time. Why not wait so long to get engaged? That suits our slow pace just fine.
Popping the question: Todd asked me on Saturday afternoon (3/31/2007 -- not April fool's day) at Mt. Pollux in Amherst. It was a beautiful sunny day with a light breeze... the kind of day that (almost) gives Spring a good name. Just as I said yes (obviously!), two white horses (with riders, but never mind them) went trotting by. Magical!
Todd gave me my Nana B's engagement ring - which he knew I inherited and wanted, and which he had to get secretly from my parents - and a red iPod nano. The nano has an inscription: "let's start a paper trail, marry me!" because I always remind him that I am an archivist and the PAPER is important!
Not surprisingly, I did have a HUGE allergy attack that day, but if Todd cannot deal with my nose issues by now, he will never be ready! We had a great dinner at the People's Pint in Greenfield, and, thanks to double my usual dose of Benedryll, I fell asleep in the car on the way home.
OK, so we waited a long time to get engaged, but we are not waiting a long time to get married. We are planning a September 29, 2007, wedding.
Here are some photos of us from the last few years... we often forget to take pictures together, so this was slim pickin'!
