Montague, MA

It has come to my attention that nowhere do we tell you where the wedding is and that you might like to know! Oops!

The wedding is at the Night Kitchen. Max, the owner and chef, uses local food whenever possible and is really creative. The Night Kitchen is in a spot that we have loved for years: the same complex as the Montague Bookmill -- a used book store whose motto is "books you don't need in a place you can't find." These businesses are in a historic mill (1842) right on the Sawmill River. It is truly a beautiful spot! We are looking forward to foliage, the sound of running water, and yummy food.

Please keep mind that this is a rustic setting. The ground between the parking lot and the restaurant is uneven. The deck has spaces between the boards. Navigating in very high heels may be trickier that normal!

Closer to the wedding, I'll post links to Google maps and directions.

Other places to stay

As promised in an earlier post, here are some alternatives to staying at the Red Roof Inn (where we will be):

The Hotel Northampton (413.584.3100) is not too far away in adorable Northampton (where we lived in 1995-96). This is a more "upscale" place for the area. The Lord Jeffrey Inn (800.742.0358) in Amherst is another fancier place to stay, but is an inn not a hotel. The Black Walnut Inn (413.549.5649) is another charming place to stay in Amherst.

Hadley, MA, is good town to consider for lodging. It is plunked in the middle of Amherst and Northampton, is South of Montague, and is chock full of hotels/motels. The down side is that is can get a little congested along the main drag (Route 9), which has become home to a WalMart, Old Navy, and Trader Joe's. We've stayed at the Howard Johnson's (413.586.0114), which is older than some of the other places, but certainly not terrible. The Holiday Inn Express (413.582.0002) is pretty new and right on the beaten path.

If you are looking for a very cute B&B, the Deerfield Inn (413.774.5587) is very close to the wedding site. The Poetry Ridge B&B (413.773.5143) in Greenfield is off the beaten path (translated, you might have trouble finding your way back), but looks nice from the outside.

The French Motor Inn in Gill (413.423.3328) is a little rough around the edges, but acceptable if you don't mind no-frills. The Greenfield Inn ( 888.244.2211), formerly a HoJo's is also a little rough, but good if you don't mind very motel-y motels.

We do not recommend the Super 8 in Greenfield. It is right on the traffic circle, small, and old. The Hampton Inn & Suites in Greenfield is considerably newer but is on the same rotary and next to a strip mall.

I hope this helps! This list is not exhaustive, if you have questions about some other place, please post them here and we'll check places out as we can. Boy, are we looking forward to seeing everyone!
